Some COVID-19 patients have reduced lung function after recovery according to Hong Kong doctors.
Up to 3 out of about 12 patients seen for follow-up visits in Hong Kong were unable to do things as they had before getting the coronavirus, according to a medical director at Hong Kongs Princess Margaret Hospital.
“They gasp if they walk a bit more quickly. Some parients mught jave around a drop of 20 to 30% in lung function.” Dr. Owen Tsang Tak-yin; Medic Director, Infectious Disease center Princess Margaret Hospital.
Dr. Tsang spoke about the findings at a media briefing on March 12, 2020.
Dr. Tsang said it’s unclear as of now what long-term effects COVID-19 has on lung function.
According to the South China Morning Post, the affected patients will undergo further tests and physiotherapy to improve their lung function.
